This battle was seen as a tremendous victory for the Allied Forces in the midst of WWII and Roosevelt even said upon learning the results of the battle, "It would seem that the turning point in this war has at last been reached." (Frank, pg. 428-92). This shows the significance of the battle because it signified the lead in favor of the Allied forces against the Empire of Japan.
